Recently i have bought a few games and ill give you my personal views on them...

Left 4 Dead:
In my personal opinion this game is a massive achievement on behalf of valve into the realm of horror survival. The game's basic premise is that you take the role of 1 of 4 survivors trying to escape from an unnamed city whilst having to fight a horde of zombies and special class zombies on the way. Due to a new advanced AI system implemented by valve, the game is a totally unique experience every time you play, as the AI adapts to your play style. Ammo and health pickups are scarce throughout the game so the emphasis is on teamwork, however, due to human aspect of the game survival is not guaranteed. Some players do try to solo the game and run off without the rest of the group, leaving the other group members to have to struggle to save their skins. The use of special class zombies is also a stroke of genius in my opinion as they add the need for new tactics to make it through each campaign. The special classes are as follows...

Boomer: A huge fat zombie who's special ability is to vomit a smelly substance all over your character. The relevance of this is that it attracts all the basic zombies to your character only. This can be trouble if your group is struggling to cope with the horde of zombies as they all gang up on you.

Smoker: A Tall zombie who wanders around making groaning noises. His special ability is to grab your character and pull you great distances with his long tongue (kinda like the lickitung from resi evil). The only way to escape once he has you is for a teammate to shoot him and release you. This can also be a pain in the arse if you are way away from the group as he will more than likely kill you.

Hunter: This zombie is an absolute b******. He is dressed as a hooded kid that generally crawls around the floor, however, you wont see him coming up on you. He is incredibly fast ad his special ability is to dive on you from long distances thus incapacitating you. The only way to escape is to have a teammate shoot or knock him off you. But beware of these guys cus they sneak up on you and kill you before u know it. This special class is one of the main reasons why it pays to work together and stick together!

Witch: Dont be fooled by her appearance! She hangs around the campaigns sitting on the floor crying, weird music also plays whilst ur nearby a witch. Although she looks harmless sitting on the floor crying, if you disturb her, you will experience a whole new world of pain! she runs at super fast speeds and can knock you down with one slash... if you dont work together to take her out quickly, she makes light work of all the survivors. The best course of action with the witch is to simply run round her. DONT FIRE YOUR GUN OR SHINE YOUR LIGHT ON HER AS BOTH DISTURB HER.

Tank: Well i think the name says it all. The tank is a special class that pops up a few times during the campaigns and is unmissable. He is a huge beast of a zombie that, although moves quite slowly at times, has huge amounts of health and can deal disastrous amounts of damage. He can also pick up items from around him and throw them at you from great distances. The only way to defeat the tank is a barrage of fire from ALL group members. If left unchecked the tank will kill all survivors in a short space of time.

The new special classes bring a whole different meaning to the word teamwork and the survivors must literally stick together and work together all the way through the campaigns to survive. In addition to the standard weapons provided in the game (shotguns, Sniper Rifle, Assault rifles), the game also includes bonus pickups that can be found throughout the levels. These pickups include Molotov cocktails and Pipe bombs. Molotov cocktails are pretty good and burn and zombies that run through the flames, but the Pipe bomb is a real achievement. Once throw, the pipe bomb will attract all nearby zombies to it and, after a timer delay, blow the hell out of all that surround it. The pipe bombs and Molotov's are essential to completing some of the campaigns as the zombie hordes can quickly overwhelm the group.


All in all i think this game is just fantastic and provides hours of fun killing the zombie hordes. I strongly Recommend this game and give it a 9/10!
